If you ever have the opportunity to cross paths with Michelle, you’re better for it.

Michelle is the Executive Director of Ability Online. The organization started over 30 years ago to help young people with disabilities and health challenges connect online with others in a safe, judgment-free environment.

Right, you got it. It began with clunky computers and dial-up internet!

Even though times and technology have changed, her audience has grown, and the need to reduce social isolation with a safe place to boost confidence, skills, and friendships still exists.

We’ve worked with Michelle for several years now, and she’s never short on stories about how our community platform positively impacts her members, and their level of activity speaks volumes. Just look at the engagement across the three communities (Young Adults, Youth, and Caregivers)*:

  • 350+ pages of curated member content (“Fun Stuff”)
  • 2,690+ shared blog (“Journey”) posts about their experiences
  • 116 active forum topics
  • 20,440+ forum posts

And among all members who logged in over the past 6 months*:

  • 59% contributed content
  • 52% spent over 18 hours connecting in the community, with 20% spending more than 60 hours!

Looking through the posts and comments, it’s beautiful to see just how supportive this community is. These aren’t just statistics; they are genuine friendships being built day in and day out in a safe, vibrant space.

It’s clear that Ability Online continues to change many lives, and we are honored that our community platform and team get to play a role in making that happen.

Let’s help her continue the amazing work!
